Headed back to Standing Rock

My name is Jo Ann Coker and I live in Seattle, WA.  I just spent a week at the Standing Rock Native American Reservation at the Oceti Sakowin Camp, and I am going back for a month in December. 

I am raising money to fund my trip, and to help cover bills while I'm gone, including rent, utilities, food, and transportation. Having my expenses taken care of at home will allow me to focus my energy where it's needed, on the front lines standing with the Water Protectors, and being of service to the people of Standing Rock. 

The peaceful Water Protectors at Standing Rock have been attacked with sound cannons, concussion grenades, tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets, mace, pepper spray, tazers, had attack dogs released on them, been violently restrained, and have been put in cages by police and/or military forces. Many people have just disappeared. 

The Water Protectors are protecting the local water supply that serves 20 million people from the North Dakota Access Pipeline. 

This is your call to action. You can help! Through peaceful prayer and ceremony, direct actions, donations, and phone calls to government officials, I believe we can get this done...TOGETHER! We MUST have clean water. 

Anything above my goal will go directly to help the people at Standing Rock. This will help with camp winterization (as people are still sleeping in summer tents in sub zero temperatures), and providing gas money (people need to get to/from the camp,  to/from direct actions, and to help support the mechanic who drives around to help everyone else out.

The Native Americans are a shining example of community in action, and I am humbled by their love and selflessness for each other and our planet. For those who are not aware of the situation at Standing Rock, I invite you to educate yourselves, and each other on this monumental event that will protect all of our water for generations to come!
