End of life costs for Shay Burch

We are sorry to have to say goodbye to Shay, who passed away during transplant surgery on October 18, 2018.  We are so grateful to all who have shown love and support.

Shay was strong and optimistic despite the enormous health challenges he faced in recent years. He had many hospitalizations including;  in 2017, a three month hospitalization following cardiac arrest, and in the winter of 2018 he had brain surgery.  He recovered from these surgeries and did not let them dampen his spirit.

Shay suffered from IGA nephropathy, a rare autoimmune disease. He fought hard and continued to run his business with his wife, Kelley, over the past five  years while waiting for a kidney and liver transplant. Finally the day had come for the transplant surgery, everyone was ecstatic and looking forward to a brighter future. Unfortunately, Shay did not survive this surgery.

Over the past few years, with Shay’s many hospitalizations, and his wife Kelley needing to be at his side,  they incurred a great many costs associated with his illness.

Kelley and  their two daughters, Kira and Abby,  now have to learn to navigate life without Shay, compounded by financial challenges.

We regret having to ask for help.  They need our support.
All of the funds raised will help with end of life expenses.

The memorial will be held at  11:00 a.m. on Monday,  Nov. 5, at Woodland Community Church  9607 E. State Rd. 70, Bradenton, 34202
followed by a 1:30 service and interment  at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd. 72,   34241
