Medical & End of Life Care for Tommy Gloster

The past few weeks have been full of many hard times and tough situations for my dad Tom and those that care for him. He has been diagnosed with advanced stage, aggressive, metastatic lung cancer. We have been told he will not survive this disease. His condition (paralysis/tumor on spine) has drastically diminished his quality of life. Treatment at this time would have little pay off.
With his family, he has made the profound decision to forego additional treatment. We support him while he deals with pain and the realization that his time here is coming to a close.
With comfort as the goal, next week we head out of the hospital (where he has been the last few weeks) and into hospice care at his home. There he will need around the clock care and pain management.
He is gifting us with a great example of courageousness. We are blessed to have this time to take care of him while we say goodbye.
To show support during this grace-filled but difficult time, the goal of this GoFundMe campaign is to try to raise as much money as possible to alleviate his financial worries during the weeks/months ahead. This is precious time for Tom and loved ones to focus on being together and building a few more memories, paying him back for all he has done, instead of worrying about money.
We are powerless to make this better, to take away the sadness, suffering, or to reverse the randomness of cancer’s horrid reach.
Any amount will ensure that Tom knows he is loved and that he is not alone. His greatest wish at this time in life is to not be a burden. Whether you donate or not, if you knew my dad, I hope that he gave you a little something good to remember him by.
