End Discrimination: From Holocaust To Protection

Donation protected

The "Unity in the Community" Youth Group gathers young adults from deprived communities in North Dublin. In 2018 the UCYG facilitated the www.ihaveadream.ie project.

In 2019 the group is involved with All Together in Dignity Ireland  in a historic campaign:

To improve Irish anti-discrimination laws to make sure all citizens and especially the most vulnerable are protected from discrimination on the basis of socio-economic status. Today, this protection is not included in Irish Equal Status Act.

To have a strong input in this campaign, the young adults involved in "Unity in the Community" decided to make a study visit to Poland to better understand what can be the consequences of discrimination and ways to prevent unequal treatments for all.

The study visit will take place from the 12th to the 17th of May 2019.

10 members of the Youth Group will visit Warsaw and the area of the Warsaw Ghetto, Kielce (and the street of the Kielce Pogrom) and the Nazi Extermination Camp of Auschwitz.

Together, we, the participants, will raise €1,000 to fund the visit, but we still need to find €1,500 to cover all costs of the study visit (Accommodation in Youth Hostels and transport in Poland, fees for the visits in Warsaw and Auschwitz).

If you support us, we will send you our "Letter from Auschwitz" and we will invite you to attend the final event of our campaign on Wednesday 18 September 2019 in the Auditorium of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission in Dublin.
