Emma's Artist Residency @ Elsewhere

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

Please support my spring artist residency at Elsewhere Studios in beautiful Paonia, Colorado!  During this month long residency in April 2018, I will focus on creating two large scale Fiber Paintings on paper stretched onto panel, at an average of 6’ x 4’. Considering the detail of my unique Fiber Painting process, this will be an exciting challenge to undertake.

Residencies provide artists the time and space to create, undisturbed from the realities and chaos of daily life. As a full time artist, the monetary challenges exist not only in paying monthly bills, but also in succeeding further in my career. Your donations will allow me to participate in this residency program, helping to strengthen my portfolio as well as apply for future opportunities.

Your contribution will help cover:

Residency fees
Materials to create
Studio fees
Travel to and from the residency
Application fees to other residency programs

Thank you for your generosity and support. Every penny counts and I truly appreciate any financial support you can offer me to turn this goal into a reality!

Peace and be well,
Emma

Emma currently works and lives in Denver, Colorado where she keeps a sustainable art practice with a “zero-waste" policy in her studio. Donated waste from other artists as well as vibrantly colored found materials and scraps, keeps Emma's practice full of excitement and constant evolution. Emma’s recent work reveals a fantasia of handcrafted elements, where various textiles and traditional craft techniques exist in harmony with vivacious abstractions. The process of radical transformation and regeneration is the core of Emma's artistic practice.

Emma’s art practice focuses on recontextualizing wasted material in an effort to preserve the natural environment and raise awareness of excessive waste. Manipulating and repurposing the studio waste she generates, as well as waste from other makers, counteracts the instant gratification of mass production and consumption of the modern world. Through exploring and accentuating the colors and contours found in nature, she turns every mark into one with intention and purpose, mixing a colorful glimpse of reality with visions of a contemporary, sustainable world.
