Emily Antin For MN House Seat 63B

Hi. I’m Emily (Em) Antin. I am currently seeking the DFL Endorsement for MN House Seat 63B.

I am running on equality, education, & healthcare for all.
This isn’t just my slogan. These are my beliefs I live by everyday and talk about always with friends and family.

Education For All:
I believe that everyone should have an education that will
get him/her a well paying job. Our current K – 12 system just
doesn’t do that. We need to create an education system that
works for the 21st century. We need to cater to the student.
Find their strengths and teach to that and give them the
tools to get the kind of education that will turn that into a
career. That may mean they can stop their education at 18
years old, it may mean community college for two years, it
may mean a four year degree, or beyond, but this education
should not be a burden and should help the student achieve
where they want to go, provide resources, and create
opportunities to work in that area.

Healthcare For All:
I believe Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Everyone
needs access to a doctor and healthcare providers; it should
not cost you your ability to live everyday. We all need to be
healthy in order to live. Our current system of some people
insured by their employer, some insured individually, and
some insured through the State does not work. It increases
costs and those are past on to the healthcare providers and
then onto us. Instead we need to use one of the systems we
all ready have. I suggest using MinnesotaCare. It all ready is
set up to be a competitive market between multiple insurers,
but also low cost because the State helps with premiums. It
is also based on income level, so those that make more can
pay more in and those who make less can pay less or
nothing in.

Equality For All:
I believe in equality for all. Everyone should be treated
equally. We need to find ways to make sure this can happen.
Our laws are still based on ideas of the early 20th century.
There is plenty of evidence and understanding that these
laws need to change. How we use law enforcement, how we
treat people with disabilities, and racial, sex, and gender
equality are just some of the laws that are out dated.
Minnesota has been a leader in this area. We need to be one
again.

Together we can build a community, House District, State, and Nation we can all be proud to call home.

Sincerely,
Emily (Em) Antin
