Hi, I'm Emilee. For my entire life, throughout my childhood and up to this point, I have had an unconditional love for Japan and its culture that continues to grow. From the anime and manga culture to the traditional temples and tea ceremonies, to the food... Japan has a special place in my heart, and I would love your help to make one of my dreams come true in 2018.
· As a child I was introduced to Japanese (pop) culture by listening to the music, watching anime, going to conventions to cosplay, learning the language, and generally immersing myself in learning more about Japan. In elementary school I promised myself that I would make my dream of experiencing Japan come true in the future. I recall times when I would stand up in front of my class and recite songs in Japanese that I had learned, as peers and teachers were amazed by my great love for the Japanese culture. Over time, it has become part of my lifestyle in a sense.
· Unfortunately, my school does not offer any courses or programs related to Japan. However, this hasn't stopped me from trying to learn the language, and it definitely hasn't contained my love towards Japan. Recently I have become a lot more involved in a great Japanese garden (The Morikami Japanese Museum and Gardens) where I live, as I have volunteered at a spring festival and visit from time to time.
My dream of truly experiencing Japan and learning more can be made possible with the help of financial aid.
I can assure you that your donation will not be taken for granted. All money raised will be going towards this trip to Japan ALONE, for educational purposes and the experience of a lifetime. Thank you in advance, it means the world that I even have the opportunity.
