Surgery for a very special poodle

Donation protected
I am trying to raise funding for a very special standard poodle, 11 year old Malachi O'Malley.  (He is on the far right in the photo) He belongs to my 81 year old mom and he is one member of her performing/therapy dog group The Irish Boys (3 standard poodles and 1 toy poodle).

On 4/30/17, Malachi had to be rushed to the Emergency Vet, he was diagnosed with bloat which is a condition that larger dogs can get.  The stomach fills with gas which then allows the stomach to twist and within hours, the dog can die.

We were told that without surgery my mom would lose her boy.  The quote was given of between 3,000.00 and 4,000.00 which included surgery, 3 night hospital stay and all medications, etc.

We told them to go ahead with the surgery and it was done.  Malachi is still at the hospital and is slowly recovering, we are still praying as there can always be a set back or development of pneumonia.

I am asking for donations as my mom and her boys have been brightening the days of many area nursing home residents, assisting living facilities and hospitals as well as a few schools and private functions for years.  Mom has been an obedience trainer for over 65 years and showed her dogs in the obedience ring for many years as well.  She has trained her boys in the Gaelic language and they all have Irish names.

These dogs do amazing work and the boys bank account (yes they have their own account which she uses just for their expenses) has taken quite a hit from this .   She does get a nominal fee when she does a 1 hour show with her boys which she immediately puts into an account for things such as their vet visits, flea medications, food etc. When they do a visit they do not receive any money, it is strictly voluntary.  Unfortunately, this has pretty much wiped out that account.

Another of my moms boys, her smallest, Sean Patrick Rafferty who is 17 and was quite the superstar of the show for many years has been diagnosed with bladder cancer so he is on borrowed time and we don't know how much longer he will be with us.  These dogs not only brighten up the lives of the people they visit and entertain but they also keep my mother happy and living a full life at her age.

I would be so grateful for any and all donations to help keep my mom going and her boys continuing on their mission of helping so many people.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
