EMERGENCY Meat Trade Jindo POISONED

Donation protected
Polar, our Korean Jindo originally saved by USHS is facing his 3rd battle with DEATH. (1st time was from slaughter for human consumption, 2nd time was by the hands of the organization who "saved" him and others from the meat trade) and now...by the hands of humans using poison to control pests out on ranch properties.

Jindos are hunters by nature. It is their breed. They are amazing guardians, protectors, hunters and workers of their territory/home. Polar was poisoned by a rat he caught who had been poisoned by a neighboring ranch property!

Polar went straight to emergency on Saturday October the 29th, lifeless and shutting down from the poison he ingested just from biting into the rat!!! Thankfully his foster mom caught him right away. One minute he was running and playing with the pack and the next minute he was lifeless and balled up in a corner. The once terrified of human touch Jindo made no resisitance to being picked up and rushed to emergency.

The first 24 hrs were excruciating. His colon was dangerously enlarged; his blood was not coagulating (posing threat of bleeding out); the shock on his organs extreme as a result of the poison.

We were on 48 hr watch just to know whether he would make it out. Today there was a light of hope:

“The coagulation of his blood is happening.  His readings were within normal limits as of today.  That was their priority yesterday as he was not clotting and was throwing up blood.  As you know coagulation is critical to stopping blood loss.  At least we know today he is not internally bleeding out.  The Vitamin K injections have helped with this.

The second priority was his liver readings which today are better but still not where she wants.  Another 24 hours will matter and he most likely will come home with a liver support med.

The last was his colon.  It was obviously enlarged.  They had not yet taken a second set of x-rays yet today but will do that.  Hopefully his constant meds and IV will have reduced the shock on his organs.

Overall improvement.  He was alert which you will see, and he was actually starting to eat a bit. All good signs.  I will check back in with them tomorrow and if he continues to improve I should be able to bring him home tomorrow with the necessary meds.”

This unanticipated emergency has caused a major strain on our funding reserves for other dogs in dire need of of surgeries and medical attention. We could not and had not another choice but to give critical care to Polar. He has survived so much. He is too young. We are not letting death stealing him if we can help him.

We need your help. Please consider donating to Polar's high weekend emergency hospitalization costs. Your donation is tax-deductible and 100% of it goes to Polar. He was just starting to enjoy life as a dog, as part of a family...and then tradegy took him once again.

Please help us, help Polar.
