Emergency L5-S1 surgery

Donation protected
I have been working as a tradesman for over 25 years, and have been a master of the trade for ten. This has been my livelihood and passion for my entire life. On July 20th, while working as an employee on a multi-million dollar vacation home for a wealthy business man I suffered a debilitating back injury. This injury occurred because I pushed to get a job done despite not having been paid for over four weeks. I was forced to go to the ER the same day where I got a CT scan and was referred to a specialist, who took x-rays and had me get an MRI. The results of all showed that I had a bulging disk between L5-S1 and a tear between L4-L5.

After the most recent doctor visit where I failed the tests checking my physical capabilities I was told I will need a microdiscectomy to be able to stop the nerve degradation and regain any mobility. While there is no guarantee that this will fix the damage already done, the doctor gave the procedure a 95% chance for full recovery. He says the surgery needs to happen as soon as possible before my leg has atrophied to a point beyond repair and I wake up with zero use of my left foot.

I am asking for your help so I can continue to ply my trade in a way that benefits others. The reason I began this career was because I have a gift for fixing the things in peoples' lives that they aren't able to fix themselves. While I was working on the job where I injured myself I was using my days off to help a friend rebuild his ruined home after Hurricane Irma. These are the things I will be unable to continue to do if I cannot recover from this injury. I have no fallback if I can't continue down this path. I have devoted my life to this trade, and without it I don't know what my next move can be.

The amount of money seems like a lot, but I have already racked up $10,000 in doctor visits and procedures. The surgery itself will be $40,000 and that does not include fees from the hospital stay or cost of the anesthesiologist. It also does not cover the 2-4 weeks I will be completely unable to work or the 4 weeks after that I will only  be able to supervise on the job. If you know me at all you know I would rather help others than ask them to help me.  If I could shoulder this burden alone I would, but now I am turning to my friends, family, and total strangers to help me get my feet back under me.  This is my last ditch effort to get through this, and anything you can do will help more than you could ever know.  You won't just be helping me, you'll be enabling me to keep helping others in need.  Please consider giving to a guy who just wants to give in turn.  Thanks for taking the time to read, and for anything you can give.
