Emerald Sketch for Santa Fe Strong

Donation protected
Emerald Sketch needs help to assist the community devastated by the massacre at Santa Fe High school.

Rooted in Newtown, CT as the first professional mental health program in direct response to the Sandy Hook School Tragedy the Emerald Sketch is now based in Brooklyn, NY.  Our Emerald Sketch Art therapy Response Team continues to train and practice in NYC, then deploys to regions we are called upon to assist.

The founding Director, Nicole P. Willcox, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT worked directly with families of Newtown, CT for eighteen months immediately following the SHS Tragedy helping the community bridge the gap for effective therapeutic services while the Resiliency Center of Newtown was being established.

Willcox is teaching at the Houston Methodist Hospital Center for Performing Arts Medicine this August, and will be assisting Hearts United for Kindness directly in Santa Fe, Texas during her stay.

The goal for this initial visit to Santa Fe is to provide the therapeutic assistance that has been requested, help assess the greater need, and engage the local Creative Arts therapists available to work consistently.

Funding contributes directly for immediate needs trauma response outreach, assessment, and clinical support for the children and families of Santa Fe, Texas.  This includes clinical supervision for Creative Arts therapists supporting Santa Fe High school survivors, first responders, or whomever this may concern, as well as fund therapeutic services as needed.

We will be there to provide educational workshops for community members and help keep people informed on how to access art or music therapy for their family members.

Primary Organizations Emerald Sketch is currently working with to mobilize therapeutic services include:

•Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas
•Hearts United for Kindness, Santa Fe, Texas

The Emerald Sketch is developing this initiative due to the social connection and kindness of patron and Santa Fe High School Alumna Sarah Bledsoe.  Willcox and Bledsoe met for the first time by happenstance in Brooklyn through mutual friends a few days following the horrifying shooting at Santa Fe High school.

More information will be posted as updates are appropriate for public view.
