Ember's Medley

Donation protected
On July 28th, 2018, Ember Johnston, a friend, an artist, and a free soul, was tragically killed in a car accident. Now, the UArts family is pulling together to do the only thing we know how to do in times like these; make art.
Ember Johnston was a DPP with a passion for music, theatre, and activism in the LGBTQ+ community. They were very involved with the LGBTQ+ community, especially queer youth. They spent many summers at what they called “gay camp”, a camp that was meant to be a learning space, explorative space, and a safe space for queer kids, trans kids, non-binary kids, and everyone in between. Ember highly spoke of their camp kids and how being a camp kid helped them come into their gender identity fully and comfortably.

The name of this camp is Camp Ten Trees and it was one of their favorite places and this is why I would like to put on a memorial fundraiser cabaret in their name, all the profit made from ticket sales will be donated to Camp Ten Trees to ensure that LGBTQ+ youth continue to have a safe haven that is clean and fun. “Ember’s Medley” will be a show filled with Ember’s favorite songs, excerpts from their favorite books and plays, as well as dance numbers and visual pieces made for and/or of Ember by their peers.

Please consider donating to this cause if you cannot make it to the show.
