We are headed to New Zealand and Australia this summer!

The Emanuel Ringers are an integral part of the music ministry at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville, New York. This year the ringers plan to attend the 18th International Handbell Symposium in Cairns, Australia. At the Symposium, the Emanuel Ringers will meet fellow Handbell musicians from all over the world, to learn and share among their different cultures and languages through their music and more. The ringers will be ambassadors of goodwill, joy, and love as they represent their country, community, the Handbell Musicians of America, and themselves. Prior to attending the Symposium, the ringers will travel to the northern island of New Zealand and Sydney, Australia.

This year’s group of talented middle and high school students hail from Pleasantville and surrounding communities, including Ardsley, Katonah, Ossining, White Plains, and Yorktown. They provide music for worship at Emanuel and offer the gospel of music at several special performances throughout the year including an annual benefit concert, the Hudson Valley Handbell Festival in Nyack, New York, the Riverside Handbell Festival in New York City, and area festivals held in the region.

Every two years, the Emanuel Ringers have an opportunity to attend the International Handbell Symposium, which previously has been held in Canada, England, Japan, Korea, Australia, and the U.S. The Emanuel Ringers have participated in all but one of the symposiums in the last 32 years. You can read about recent Symposium trips on our blog at emanuelringers.blogspot.com. Click on any even year starting form 2010 and the July tabs to read descriptions written by the ringers and see photos of their experience.

How do we pay for our Symposium trips? These trips are made possible through the generosity, support, and prayers of the ringers’ families and friends. The ringers also do fundraisers such as citrus sale, car washes, soup sale, bake sales, and concerts to help pay for their trip. We also rely on generous donations from people like you who know what an incredible experience it is for young people to travel abroad and meet and share faith with people from different countries, cultures, and languages.

We would be very grateful for any cash gifts that will assist the Emanuel Ringers on this year’s journey. No gift is too small to provide these young people with this opportunity to share their music with to others. These donations will go directly to a fund which will pay for all the ringers to have the ability to go on this trip.

As you consider what you can give, you can listen to us at our annual benefit concert from December at

We again joined with the Katonah Celebration Ringers who we will be touring with this summer. This benefit concert raised over $3,000 toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

Your generous contribution is tax deductible.

If you need further information, please contact Eiko Cornelius at eikosc@hotmail.com.

If you are unable to contribute monetarily, we ask that you pray for us as we travel at the end of July and beginning of August, and that we should have a safe trip and that the ringers will have a truly meaningful experience. Please follow us on our trip through our blog at emanuelringers@blogspot.com. THANK YOU!
