Welcome to our road ahead for Elliotte Rose Sargent! Mommy and Daddy (Mary and Will Sargent) are creating this page to update everyone on our sweet little girl as often as possible that way it'll all be in one place and you can check back here as often as possible. We know we have a lot of family and friends all around the country that are wanting updates, so I thought this would be the best place to do it.
A little background, Will and I have been married a year and we found out our baby had gastroschisis at 20 weeks (her intestines/other organs were on the outside of her body). I delivered her at 38 weeks on September 11, 2016 at 5:36pm. She weighed 6lbs 2 oz and was taken back for surgery immediately after birth to place everything back inside. Her stomach, bowel, fallopian tubes, and ovaries were all outside at birth. They got her stomach, fallopian tubes, and ovaries back and some of her bowel, but the rest of it is placed in a silo as you can see in the picture. The silo gradually helps put the intestines back inside of her body along with the doctor pushing them down every other day or so. There will be a second surgery to help close the hole once they're all back in which will be in a few days!
We have had many people ask us what we are in need of and we wanted to make this page so everyone could see!
Elliotte is getting the best care there is right now, so we don't need anything for her except prayers. I'm placing specifics below so you can target those in prayer and they will change as her condition changes.
-Her intestines go back into her body in a timely manner
-Her closure surgery goes perfectly
-After her closure surgery she'll be able to eat good amounts and keep it down
-No infection in any part of her body
-No complications for any of her organs that were out once they're all put back into her body
For us we are in need of a few things:
-Gas cards because Will will be driving back and forth from home to the hospital once he goes back to work which is 45 minutes away.
-Any financial donation because I will be off of work for a few months to be with Elliotte.
-Prayer for strength and endurance as new parents of a NICU baby and making sure we take care of ourselves as well.
We are so thankful for all of the support that we have gotten so far with love, prayers, and financial support. It's been a true blessing and we will be updating as we get updates. Some days there may not be any major updates, but I'll do my best!
