Ellen Gabriel, sister, cousin, niece, aunt and long time militant is in a fight against cancer.  After many years dedicated to fighting for Indigenous peoples rights let us now show her our support during her time of need.

Recovering from the surgery she has had, only a few days after her birthday, will take many months. Let us make it a moment where she can truly rest without the worry of a financial burden  and let her focus worry free on recovery.

Ellen is a true role model who has always put the wellbeing of her people before herslf. A true warrior woman and shero who now needs our emotional, spiritual and financial support. Any amount will help.

--------‐-----------------------------

N'importe quel montant aidera.

I want to say Niawenkó:wa – A big Thank you to so many people, family, friends, colleagues, the public: for your kind and generous donation to helping me recover and heal from lung cancer and the surgery to remove the tumor in my right lobe. I am currently recovering from the surgery which is long but with support, it helps ease my mind. I am optimistic for the future because of people like yourselves who are kind and compassionate. I wish I could say Niawenkó:wa – a big thank you to each of you - your efforts have lifted my soul
.
As well, I want to say Niawenkó:wa – to all those who have sent me messages of love through prayer and hope for a healthy recovery. These messages have moved me, warmed my heart and I feel the healing, precious love and compassion from you all.
I never imagined the outpouring of support and kind words from all those who have expressed words of love and support publicly: many I have met along the way in this journey of life - community I realize, is bigger than the one I live in.

For those who have made generous and kind donations, Niawenkó:wa; your donation will ease my mind to have one less worry and to focus on healing. Cancer you see doesn’t just affect you physically, it affects you mentally and spiritually and sometimes that is the hardest part of healing. Facing your mortality is daunting but with all the support I have received, it brings me hope and courage, again Niawenkó:wa.
The overwhelming support has moved me deeply and is helping me to increasing the odds to make this second chance at life, successful and complete.
I wish everyone who have contributed to this campaign and sent me messages of hope and health, a beautiful life, one of love, laughter (one of the best medicines of all), peace, prosperity and the best of health.

And finally, to my good and dear friend Jennifer Brazeau for starting the GoFund me campaign. I am once again overwhelmed by everyone’s efforts, messages of love and support and all your kind donations

Kwe,

I am writing to first and foremost thank you all for giving so generously to this campaign! We beat the first goal of 5,000$ dollars in less than 36 hours and beat the second goal of 10,000$ in a week!

I have had the great honor of knowing Ellen for close to 10 years, first as her employee and now as her friend, and I am gladdened to see our community rally behind her. Every dollar donated and every nice word will go a long way to giving her some peace of mind.

I have stopped the campaign and have setup the funds to be transferred into her account directly so she can benefit from your generosity. Once again, I am very grateful myself to witness the strong out powering of support and to witness such a beautiful spirit of kinship.

Kitchi Meegwetch,
Jennifer

A message from Ellen:

Shé:kon – Kuei – Wachiya – Bonjour – Greetings
I want to say Niawenkó:wa – A big Thank you to so many people, family, friends, colleagues, the public: for your kind and generous donation to helping me recover and heal from lung cancer and the surgery to remove the tumor in my right lobe.

I want to say Niawenkó:wa – to all those who have sent me messages of love through prayer and hope for a healthy recovery. These messages have moved me, warmed my heart and I feel the healing, precious love and compassion from you all.

I never imagined the outpouring of support and kind words from all those who have expressed words of love and support publically: many I have met along the way in this journey of life.

I have to thank my partner Tracee Diabo for all her care and being my rock during this time. I have to express a special thanks to my sister Mamie, her husband Vince, my cousins Wanda, Diane, Bernie, Pam; Arlette, my beautiful niece Jennifer and her husband Corey, my nephew Dan and his girlfriend Kristina, my good friend Clifton; all of them have also been my greatest support and made a difference in my life lifting me up when I felt very low and who remind me to take it slow. Kenorónkhwa Sewakwékon - Love you all so much.

To my work colleagues, my director Hilda N and Linda C: your support lessened the stress of post-op recovery: you bring me such hope for the work we are doing on Kanien’kéha language and culture – Kenorónkhwa.

For those of you who came out to the launch of the silent Auction on June 1st at the school in the pines, a big virtual hug and Niawenkó:wa for your donations, your love and support to lift my spirits up: seeing you all lifted my spirits and my heart was bursting to see the support and compassion.

To my friends and colleagues working in Indigenous languages – Claudette C, human rights Jennifer P, Climate Change - ICA, all of who have reached out to me and sent words of love and support – it has really helped me get through the initial news of this disease – Kenorónkhwa – I love you deeply.

I wish to return to the advocacy work that I have spent half of my life doing with a good mind and health, as well as, more determination to help the present and future generations have a fighting chance to adapt to climate change and to stop colonization from hurting anymore generations.

During this time I have been moved to tears with the overwhelming support I have received from all those who have wished me good health, have prayed and meditated for the return of my health and healing. Words cannot describe how much this means to me. You are helping me to give me better odds to make my second chance successful and complete.

I wish everyone who has sent me messages of hope and health, a beautiful life, one of love, laughter (one of the best medicines of all), peace, prosperity and the best of health.

And finally, to my good and dear friend Jennifer Brazeau for starting the GoFund me campaign. I am once again overwhelmed by everyone’s efforts, messages of love and support and all your kind donations
