Elizabeth's Funeral and Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Elizabeth Torres was born on Sep. 11, 2008 and passed away on June 10, 2019. Elizabeth was 10 yrs old when she passed from a rare inherited genetic disorder called Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses, also known as NCL's or Batten Disease.

Batten Disease affects the functioning of cells called lysosomes. Lysosomes are the recycling bin of the cell and break down the waste, proteins and lipids. In batten disease the mutated genes do not produce/breakdown the proper amounts of proteins important for lysosomes to function. These proteins are important for brain cells to work efficiently.

Batten Disease affects 2 to 4 children out of every 100,000 children in the U.S. There is no cure for this disease but children with it have a greatly shortened life expectancy. Due to this rare disease, Elizabeth, became blind, experienced worsening seizures everyday, was wheelchair bound, bedridden, unable to communicate and lost all cognitive functioning.

Unfortunately, the family is struggling to find a way to pay for her funeral expenses. Any donations contributed on here or directly to the family are greatly appreciated. Please continue to pray to give the family strength through this very rough time.

Thank you all for the donations, prayers, love, and support, you are all greatly appreciated.
