I am publishing a book! It’s now pushing 5 years since I originally placed pen to paper. The result is a glimpse at what the culmination of my dynamic and adventurous life has led me to produce. What is just some of that culmination?
Many of you know I am a lifelong, competitive athlete and international rough-water, ocean swimmer, yoga practitioner, and martial artist. My career has spanned building strategic partnerships with fortune 500 companies from my perch at The Walt Disney Company to being a business owner and entrepreneur running my own real estate, finance, and consulting company- All while blending in my time as a ocean rescue 1st responder with Laguna Beach then LA County Fire Dept. While my formal education landed me a degree in my pursuit of Sports Medicine on the tract to become an orthopedic surgeon, I changed gears after deferring med school upon being presented with an opportunity to live and work abroad, precipitating my living in 6 different countries over the span of 5 years.
From the earliest age, I was introduced to the wisdom traditions, eastern and western philosophy, exposed to the cultures of the world, the arts, travel, and languages, while enduring tumultuous times in an environment that was often too toxic to bear as a child and young adult. Through fortuitous circumstances, I was eventually extracted from that environment and prevailed in placing such dispositions behind me. Those experiences inspired and honed my conviction to serve the vulnerable especially involving homelessness, hunger, and children. My pursuits soon landed me a chair position engaging and developing young leaders eventually on the national level.
While all I wanted as a kid was just to fit in, I never felt like I did, except while pursuing team sports which, in hind sight, was probably one of the drivers that led me to excel. I was disruptive- a shit disturber (some say I still am). More times than I wish to count, I sat in front of the dean while he sternly shook his head (I know now as an adult he must have been laughing his ass off inside) as he’d say: “You are an All-American, varsity athlete with a 4.3GPA…what am I supposed to do with you?” He decided on lots and lots of detention where I was delegated to tutor the other kids in their studies, and… yes, I missed a few games, a state championship once, and a water polo tournament in Hawaii… ouch! I learned some time later that to be a disruptor, you have to know the rules so well, you know when to break them-- and there have been times in my life, like right now, where that’s exactly what I did/ am doing.
My book is secular and constituted by what I affectionately term Invisible Distinctions, that when illuminated, elevate our consciousness. If we think of these distinctions like DNA, then I have organized them into a paradigm I call The Genome of Elevated Consciousness. This paradigm disrupts the transactional way of thinking most people default to today when perspective is not properly illuminated often leading to breakdown in productivity, communication, relationships, and engenders divisiveness, disharmony, and disempowerment.
Accessing Conscious Intelligence illuminates a more powerful perspective so that we can elevate consciousness in each of these areas of our life.
It is with great honor and humility that I announce the publishing of my groundbreaking book appropriate for this brave new 21st Century, that illuminates the way we approach business, productivity, relationships, communication and Self.
