Save My Small Business

For the last 10 years, I have owned and operated a small business selling Pagan and Wiccan supplies to the public through travelling to various conventions around the country (Anime, Sci-Fi, Literary, etc). I have prided myself on keeping my prices reasonable, my product selection varied and as wide as possible, and my clients happy with both their purchases and the answers I provide to their questions. Almost every place I've gone, I have heard the same comments about how happy they are to see me there, and how they "used to have a shop like this in town, but they closed".

Then came the economic collapse, and the need to scale back, tighten up the finances, and keep the business alive and afloat until things turned around. It was hard, but I managed to do it, cutting back from 26-30 shows a year to just 7. I even managed to add new product lines from time to time, increasing my base appeal and widening my sales audience! As a "micro" business (aka a small business that didn't make at least $100,000 per year), I didn't qualify for a bailout, and I certainly wasn't considered "too big to fail". So after a lot of hard work, and self-sacrifice, I managed to survive, and saw the economy rebounding.

I now take my 15 year old son on the road with me, and since he is autistic, the ability to constantly meet new people and practice striking up conversations and deciphering body language has helped him tremendously, as has the behavioral therapy sessions and medications I have been able to afford because of the sales made at conventions. He's come so very, very far since his diagnosis, and if I have to shut the business down now, I'm worried that his progress will falter, as I won't be able to send him to therapy as often, or even at all. I would do anything to keep him on track, because I have seen what he's like without these therapies and medications, and I have seen what he can be with the right therapeutic support.

So I am doing something now that comes hard for me: I am asking for your help. Every little bit helps, as I'm sure you know, and every bit will be deeply appreciated. The money that you help me raise here will go exclusively toward paying off suppliers and debt that has mounted due to a couple of bad conventions in a row, and unforeseen repairs to equipment (for instance, having to check into a motel an extra night and drop $140 on a new trailer tire when one shredded itself after business hours in Missouri). Paying off these debts will allow me to keep booking shows, and keep travelling from state to state with my son, helping him with his autism and bringing a little joy and happiness to those we meet at conventions.

But what's in it for you? Well, aside from helping me meet my goals, you can choose from several different rewards for yourself, as well. Pick one of the soft, comfy pillows, or a pack of custom buttons, or even sample some of my (almost) world famous fudge!
