100% OF THE PROCEED GO DIRECTLY TO NFB MD BLIND CHILDREN
NFB teaches families of the MDPOBC that their children can live the life of a normal child, by being able to pursue their dreams, and become productive adults by fully participating in society. My blind 10 yr old, 3rd grader Naudia is a great example of this. Naudia is being taught braille at Waterloo and NFB workshops, NFB Bell programs without Braille, Naudia would not be able to read and participate in the normal day to day activities other children her age who are not blind already participate.
Unfortunately, many of Maryland’s blind children are illiterate because no one taught them how to read and write Braille. This illiteracy crisis is not unique to Maryland; it is a national crisis because only 10% of today’s blind children are taught Braille. funds raised from this event will be used to assist families and children to learn the essential skills of blindness and to become fluent Braille readers.
MDPOBC will be hosting our Bowl-A-Thon on April 16, 2016 at Woodlawn Lanes in Baltimore, MD. Our children, including my daughter Naudia, are excited about Bowling for Braille Literacy. If you would like to join a team or make a family/friends team bring the attached pledge sheet and money to the event.
