Eileen's Fight Against Melanoma

Hi, my name is Rosa and this page is on behalf of my first cousin, Eileen Scheker. We grew up like sisters while living in the Dominican Republic. In June, Eileen noticed a lump on her right leg; it did not bother her and figured it would go away. Unfortunately, the lump did not go away and others started growing in her body. This prompted a doctor visit and she had a CT scan and a biopsy and in early July, at 28 years old, Eileen found out it was Stage IV Melanoma. An MRI revealed that the cancer has not spread to her brain and for that we are thankful.
Cancer alone is scary but imagine learning that treatment is not available in your home country! For this reason, Eileen is relocating to Miami, FL for one year to seek treatment. In September, Eileen will begin immunotherapy with Keytruda. This treatment is targeted specifically for the type of Melanoma she has as she tested positive for a gene mutation (NRAS).
Please consider a donation to help defray Eileen's medical expenses over the next year. Any amount you donate will touch her young life and help her shine as an advocate for living a thriving life after cancer. Hola, mi nombre es Rosa y esta pagina es a nombre de mi prima Eileen Scheker, crecimos juntas como hermanas mientras vivía en República Dominicana. En Junio, Eileen nota un bulto en su pierna derecha a lo que no presta atención pensando que se quitará solo, desafortunadamente no solo no se le quitó, sino que otros más empezaron a aparecer en su cuerpo. A través de tomografías y posterior biopsia descubre, a sus 28 años, que padece de Melanoma en grado IV. Una resonancia magnética indica que gracias a Dios el cáncer no ha tomado su cerebro.
El cáncer por si solo ya es aterrador y peor aún saber que en nuestro pais no existe tratamiento para el tipo de cáncer que padeces, es por esto que Eileen debe ser trasladada a Miami en la Florida por un año.
En septiembre empezará inmunoterapia con el medicamento Keytruda que ataca específicamente el tipo de Melanoma que padece, ya que ha dado positivo a una mutacion genética (NRAS).
Mi familia y yo agradecemos cualquier donación que ayude a sufragar los gastos médicos de este año de tratamiento en esta lucha de Eileen contra Melanoma, cualquier ayuda tocará su joven vida y hará posible que sea productiva y próspera despúes del cáncer.
Necesitamos sus oraciones y pensamientos positivos en este momento en el que solo queremos sobrevivir esta situación .
