Edwin desperately needs a new van

Donation protected
This is a story about a very special person, my brother-in-law, Edwin.  Edwin suffered a serious injury in 2007 that left him a quadriplegic.  Bummer right?  The thing is, you would have a hard time finding Edwin having a bad day.  His contagious smile is on view all day, every day.  After his injury he endured many long months of physical and occupational rehabilitation.  Soon he was back at work and he has worked full time ever since.  My sister Jeanne Marie also works full time and they have two wonderful children.  After lots of chauffeuring my sister decided it was time for Edwin to learn how to drive himself to work everyday.  This can be very challenging with an injury like Edwin's.  He persevered and was soon the proud owner of a used 2007 Chrysler Town & Country specially modified van.  He could now automatically extend the wheelchair ramp, transfer from his wheelchair to the driver's seat and operate special hand controls to drive the van unassisted.  That faithful van has now come to the end of its useful life. The ramp doesn't always extend, the kneeling function no longer works, the sliding door does not open automatically, the front seat is held together with wire, the  undercarriage is rusting out, the antilock brakes no longer function and last but not least,  I personally put a big scratch in it when I was the designated driver last July 4!  Obviously, the van needs to be replaced so that Edwin can continue to be independent.  Even with both Edwin and Jeanne Marie working it is a struggle paying the many medical bills that are associated with his injury.  A new van is not possible at this time.  I am asking his many friends and relatives to once again, lend a helping hand.  A new van will cost between $53,000 - 58,000.  Their mechanic doubts the  old van will last through the winter so it is crucial for us to help NOW.  Any donation you can make would be so very much appreciated.  It would mean so much to me and my family if we could help Edwin with this because he means so very much to all of us.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
