Dimitri, 12 years old, was sent a formal letter from Washington, D.C. after he was specially nominated by one of his teachers to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Explore STEM - for core academic areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, this July of 2019.
Dimitri has stepped up to the plate and is involved in school (loves school), and gets consistent grades of A and A+ in his classes. Dimitri is the treasurer in the student council in the after school program that involves the stock market!
Yet, his mother has to receive state aid to support the family because of her low income. The costs of the Explore STEM program involve tuition, books, and other related expenses.
Dimitri, who currently lives in CT, was invited to participate. Of the ten colleges and/or universities hosting the program, Villanova University in PA is one of those. I live only 35 miles from Villanova.
The NYLF program will give Dimitri a glimpse of higher education, including being introduced to speakers, one of whom is a former astronaut from NASA.
Dimitri enjoys learning, wants to be a mathematician to help businesses, start-up companies, those with financial needs, and may even help in scientific research and development.
Dimitri would like to devote his life towards helping others with his knowledge and skills he learns along the way in his education, which will help to improve the quality of peoples' lives.
