Hi! My name is Simon Rosenbaum, I am 12 years old and I am working on a project that would provide academically substantial comic books to students in Vermont. These comic books would help develop language and storytelling skills, and reinforce what schools are teaching.
This is part of my Personal Learning Plan project, a proficiency based learning initiative. I took it a step further and made it my Mitzvah Project, because this is something that matters a lot to me.
The goal of this would be to provide some incentive to read and have fun doing it to reluctant readers while learning something while doing it.
But to self-publish them, I need funding. I will need $1,400 to self-publish and to get supplies.
After the publication, I will call up schools and ask them if they would carry these comic books. If teachers notice a kid struggling or if they want the entire class to use them, then they can introduce the comic book provided. Then they can do an exercise on the material covered afterwards.
