Edna's DACA Renewal

Hello! My name is Edna Dominguez. I'm a sophomore at California State University, Long Beach. I'm also a recipient of the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA. As some of you may know, DACA was ended today. Because of this decision, many undocumented students are facing anxiety and fear, just like I am. While this decision was devastating and cruel, there is a short window for me to reapply since my DACA is about to expire. 

Today was very hard for me. Suddenly the fear of deportation and negative thoughts came back, I feel unsafe again. I remember being home when I heard the news and bursting into tears when I realized what had just happened-- my stay at this country is being jeopardized. 
To have DACA taken away from me means taking my social security, my work permit-- my identity in this country. Without DACA I live in fear wherever I go. This impacts my family and I because it brings back the stress of living under the shadows. Without DACA I can't work, therefore can't help out my family. 
DACA provides me with a work permit that allows me to have a job to cover my educational expenses, and help my family. DACA also secures me and thousands of other young people from deportation.  Sadly, my youngest sister who is currently a High School senior couldn't sign up for DACA, due to the fact that it was removed. She is unable to receive DACA at the moment. Therefore, increasing her fear and anxiety as well as my family's

Any donations that are made to this fund will be used towards renewing my DACA application which is due by October 5th.
