Edimar Luque to SUP Worldcup

The Venezuelan Elite Stand Up Paddling racer, Edimar Luque needs our support to participate at 2017 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship.
As it is well known, Venezuela is currently going through a big economic, political and social struggle. For athletes like Edimar, it has been an unimaginable challenge to pursue their dreams.
The currency control, the almost inexistent governmental support and the high cost of living in Venezuela, are just some of the problems that Edimar has to face.
I got to know Edimar in 2015. That was the time when I heard her story. She was a rising national athlete in several disciplines, but in 2012 she found herself in the middle of a crossing fire while buying groceries. She got shot on her belly during this incident. This almost ended up with a successful career as an athlete. The national sports institutions started to turn their back on her. But soon enough, surf and Paddling offered her a second chance. Due to her strong will to survive, she recovered and became stronger than ever, stands firm on her dreams, trains every day like anyone I have seen before and has been trying all that is on her reach to be able to represent our nation all over the world.
She already managed to pay the inscription fees, more than 500 Dollars debt that the Venezuelan government had with ISA, accommodation and food in Denmark. Now we are at the inflection point where we have less than half a month to recollect money to get her a proper board and the flight ticket to Denmark (Around 800 Eur). Naish offered us a Board on a Special price (1000 Eur).
I currently live in Ingolstadt-Germany, where I have a Stand Up Paddling School (www.arenita-sup.com). I offered to help Edimar with all the logistic, some money and start this campaign to collect the remaining costs. Let’s reach this goal together.
Edimar has already represented our nation in Peru, France, UK, Portugal, Germany, Brazil, Nicaragua and USA. In all this countries, she stood on the podium with our flag hanging high. I am sure Edimar will not let us down this time.
