I adopted Edie from Seattle 7 years ago, and since then she had been my partner in crime traveling the country on numerous adventures, as well as being SUPER talkative, a sweet cuddle bug and a great big sister to Aggie.
Last month, she was hospitalized for 3 days at the Falls Road ER for severe diarrhea and dehydration... we thought it was taken care of with meds and diet.
Fast forward to Friday; her symptoms returned in a major way and she started expelling straight blood.
I immediately rush her back to the ER where they start very aggressive therapy (all the while having to pay for it up front).
At first, I was told is was severe pancreatitis and sepsis. But then yesterday - Mother’s Day, she was diagnosed with all of the above plus Pancreatic Cancer. Treatment and surgery was only going to buy her a few months of misery. I ended up making the call to end her pain...
When I visited her, she smelled like she was dying and was basically catatonic. I left the room after my sister said she would stay in the room during the procedure.
When it was over, I was told Edie closed her eyes, went limp and evacuated after I left the room and her heartbeat couldn’t be detected. They still went through with the administration of the medication out of precaution.
I’m doing this GFM because this was $ I did not have, and it’s going to sink me for months and I need help. What’s being asked for includes her final treatments, euthanasia and ‘body care’. Thank you all and be good to all.
