Eddystone Charity Pursuit

I'm raising money to support the work we do at Morvargh Sailing Project CIC .  The Project's mission:
To use sail training to inspire and change lives.

The Project has a 57ft Tall Ship that it uses to inspire up to 12 young people sailing on a range of voyages from day sailing in Plymouth Sound to further expeditions such as ASPIRE360, a circumnavigation of the UK. We use the medium of offshore sailing because it is an unforgiving natural environment that provides a sense of risk and adventure to the participants; whilst allowing us to develop them over a range of disciplines. Young people gain and build skills such as, Self-esteem, self-worth, motivation, leadership, resilience, communication and improved academic performance and drive!

As part of our fundraising activities Morvargh has entered the Eddystone Charity Pursuit  - this annual sailing event is designed to raise money for charities nominated by the individual yachts which enter. The charities supported must “benefit the human condition”.

Our challenge is simple: To sail the fastest we can out to the Eddystone Lighthouse and back! Points are gained, not just for our race position but for the amount of sponsorship gained before we start. Those with the highest points win extra money for their chosen organisation. This is one of our main fundraising activities of the year, the person who raises the most sponsorship will win a prize!

With over 60 yachts taking part each year it is truly a sight to sea! ;-)

This GoFundMe page is Morvargh's way to collate the sponsorship for the event and funds will go directly to them to support the work they do with young people.

The Eddystone Pursuit is being held on 23rd June 2018. If you'd like to sail aboard during the event there are still places aboard - you can find out more https://sailadventure.co.uk/voyages/eddystone-pursuit/
