Ed Fitzgerald - PBP Local Election Fund


This page has been established to raise funds for the progressive socialist candidate Ed Fitzgerald from the political party, People Before Profit. Ed will be running in the local elections in May and he needs your help.

Ed is a bright, forward thinking activist who isn't afraid to call out the system or the elitist status quo. He has a long history of highlighting and challenging injustice.

Ed came to prominence in Cork during the Repeal of 8th Amendment where he became a well known figure in Cork and defended the rights of women to choose. 

Ed has supported such campaigns as Equal Marriage, the anti-water charge movement, Repeal and is now campaigning for housing rights and action on the housing crisis. 

Ed has helped a number of people in Cork as well as lead protests on housing issues. 

The funds will be used to buy materials and plan events related to his campaign for the Cork City local elections for city council.

In Ed's words, "I believe that I am very lucky to be the voice for those who have yet to find their's. I believe that we can live up to tourhe progressive potential in this country secure housing rights for all as well as a better education free from shackles of church influence. These donations will mean the world to me, as it will enable me to fund my campaign, which in turn means I can meet more people and represent more issues. As an activist, I realise that we stand on the shoulders of giants who pushed and broke through the oppressive boundaries of our society in order to create a better world for all. I think we need more ordinary people in politics, grass roots movements  and campaign to remove business influence over public policy, putting people, before profit."

Ed works hard, as well as his full time job, he spends a great deal of his time helping people with housing and local issues.

Ed is a person of the people, with his heart firmly in the right place and his politics firmly focused on the best interests of the everyday person.
