Help Our Girls Reach Achieve Their Dreams!
East Coast United Basketball (ECU) is an organization that believes club/travel ball programs are valuable and beneficial to the growth and development of young, female, student-athletes. It is our overall goal to encourage young ladies to reach maximum fulfillment academically, athletically and socially. We provide an education and national – level competitive basketball program that focuses on learning fundamentals, leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship. ECU offers a competitive and safe atmosphere wherein student athletes can continue the development of their life skills through basketball in hope to have opportunities to succeed on and off the court.
The ECU program includes teams from grades 5 - 11. Our girls come from different socio- economic backgrounds within the state of Florida. We have a roster of talented and experienced volunteer coaches who dedicate hundreds of hours to player development through drills, instruction and competition as well as student development through academic support, mentoring and tutoring. Players must fulfill commitments to the classroom prior to fulfilling their athletic commitments to our program. We enforce academics as a first priority because it allows for better opportunities beyond the court. ECU is committed to helping young ladies reach their college educational goals. To that end, the exposure to college coaches that comes from travel ball is crucial for many of our girls. Girls that without basketball scholarships may not be able to afford college.
We have an important month of July approaching and girls have been working extremely hard. July is the primary evaluation period for NCAA coaches. The coaches have a limited calendar to which they are limited in face to face evaluations. These coaches are permitted by the NCAA calendar to evaluate the girls in-person during certain weeks in July. During July, we will have several teams traveling to Louisville, KY from July 4th - 14th and to Atlanta, GA from July 23rd-29th.
Taking mulitple teams on the road requires a significant amount of planning by our volunteers and a great financial commitment from the parents and supporters of our organization. Whether it be plane tickets, rental properties/hotels, team vans, food, gas, event entry fees, etc., the expenses add up to thousands upon thousands of dollars. All of our girls pay monthly dues. In order to keep the dues affordable for everyone, we depend on a significant amount of fundraising to help offset the costs incurred during our travel season. We need your support! Please consider giving to our cause and help these girls create opportunities for themselves that they may not otherwise achieve.
