Discover, experience, consume sustainably - that is what EcoMap stands for. We make responsible consumption in your local area easier than ever before.

EcoMap is a web-based service that aims to promote sustainable and ethical consumption habits in urban areas by providing a map with spots and stores that provide sustainable products and services.

At the moment, there are local EcoMap teams in Hamburg, Leipzig, Maastricht, Reutlingen, St. Gallen and Vienna, who identify, evaluate and local stores to the EcoMap. And the community is growing!

We already created a basic website with the maps for the different cities, the questionnaires for objectively rating applying stores and some marketing materials. In the next step, we want to develop a new design, improve the website and create a scalable database system.
For that we need your help and € 15 000.

Please help us achieving this goal and spread the word!
The environment, future clients and all the awesome people involved in the EcoMap will thank you for this :)

You want more information about us and the EcoMap? Here we go:

How did everything start?

Everything started a few years ago in St. Gallen, Switzerland. A small group of motivated students, keen to change their consumption behaviour into a more climate friendly one, got together to revolutionize the way consumers and suppliers interact. They had realized living responsibly in their day-to-day life was really hard. It was not only almost impossible to find stores who claimed to be sustainable but even harder to find some that actually sold sustainable products. This difficulty provided the necessary motivation to found the EcoMap, a map that lets you discover sustainable stores in your city, ranked in different categories and judged on a variety criteria. The word spread, soon teams from around the world wanted to get involved and create an EcoMap in their city. This gave birth to EcoMap International which by now encompasses cities in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands with plans to expand to France, Spain and Italy in the near future.

What is the EcoMap?

EcoMap is a web-based platform that aims to promote sustainable and ethic consumption habits in urban areas. Nowadays, there we urgently need to take the right decisions when it comes to our daily consumption behavior. With every cent we spend we vote on the future of our planet. Yet incomprehensibly, there are hardly any resources for customers to take informed decisions about potential suppliers.
Whenever you discover a shop, there remains the uncertainty to what extent the shop complies with your sustainable standards and if it fulfils all the promises it makes.  EcoMap helps you by closing this information gap with its online map.

In order to prevent greenwashing local expert teams from EcoMap supervise and evaluate all shops featured on our website. EcoMap acts as a facilitator to connect suppliers with clever, sustainable-minded clients like you.

For who?

The EcoMap is a project directed at each and every person who wants to adapt their consumption and live a more sustainable life. Whether you're just looking for a better cosmetics store in your city, or as a tourist scouting the perfect restaurant near your hotel. The EcoMap is for everyone who cares about her/his impact on the planet.

Who are we?

We are an international team trying to shape the world of tomorrow. The team includes:

EcoMapians - the heart of EcoMap. They are organized in local groups that meet up regularly to organize local events, discuss their strategy and most importantly interact with the shops. At the moment they are groups in Hamburg, Leipzig, Maastricht, Reutlingen, St.  Gallen and Vienna. And the community is growing!

Martin - greography student at the University of Hamburg -  he was the first interested in porting the project to his city and provided the necessary impulses and ideas to convert the EcoMap from a local project into an international initiative.

Rob - student at the University of St. Gallen. He has been part of the EcoMap since the beginning and decided to spread the word to establish the EcoMap in more cities in all of Europe and - maybe some day - in the entire world.

Tiphaine - student at the University of Leipzig. She joined some months ago, passionate about the idea of bringing the EcoMap to other cities.

Why do we need the funds?

So far we have developed the questionnaries that allow us to objectively rate the stores that apply to be part of the EcoMap. Now, we need to create a new website, an improved design and an easier access to data to improve your user experience!

To achieve this, we need:
- a developer who helps us manage the data and running the website
- a design for the new website

We want to finance the project step by step:

Step 1: develop a basic website - € 10 000
--> DONE !

Step 2: develop a new design, improve the website and create a scalable database system - € 15 000
--> This is where we need YOUR help!
--> We want to launch the new website by the end of April.

Step 3: improvements and changes on the website, promotion and marketing - € 20 000
--> Soon to follow!

Why should you help us?

We are a group of motivated students based in several cities in Europe who really want to make change happen. If you donate for our project, you will be able to discover sustainable stores in cities like Hamburg, Vienna, Maastricht, St. Gallen, Leipzig, Reutlingen, Zurich in a few months' time.  Additionally, you will also be able to be part of the community suggesting and rating stores in your city directly online! By helping us now, you help yourself to consume in a better way in the future.

Please help us achieving this goal and spread the word!
The environment, future clients and all the awesome people involved in the EcoMap will thank you for this :)
