Friends, Alumni, and Funders:
The East Burke Swim and Dive Team would like to humbly ask you to consider donating to us so that we can continue to represent the Cavaliers throughout our regular season and at regional and state competitions!
East Burke has a long tradition of competitive showings at high level swimming events. Since joining the 2A Division in 2009, we have sent men's swimmers to the state competition every year, both as individual swimmers and on relay teams. Our guys relays in particular have been regulars among the top 16 teams in North Carolina high school 2A swimming every year. Our women's team has advanced to the regional competition almost every year in the same time frame, and we have occasionally taken women to state competition as well.
More recently, we expanded to include a diving team. Last year was our first year competing in these events, and we were very proud to take two divers to the state competition after they finished second and third in the regional meet. We only anticipate more success as our divers get more years of experience behind them.
Providing for a top-notch team, however, can be expensive. We are hoping to raise $3,000 help cover some of our expenses. These funds provide a supplement for two of the four coaches on our staff. These coaches give of themselves, not only coaching and mentoring our athletes at practice, but also making it possible for our team to host and run numerous meets throughout the season, all while helping to be as useful to our student-athletes on deck as possible. One coach has extensive experience with tumbling and gymnastics, ensuring the safety and continued success of our recently-formed diving team. We also use team funds to provide healthy nutrition during meets, and especially on overnight trips to regional and state meets. Swimming is so demanding on an athlete's dietary needs, and we want to set our athletes up for success when it really matters. Finally, these funds help us recognize our seniors and provide them with a memento of their time in the water as a member of Cavalier Swimming and Diving.
Ultimately, we want to spend our time in the pool and on the board, working hard to continue the proud legacy of Cavalier Swimming and Diving. Raising funds is always a challenge, and we would much rather spend all of our energy training and working toward our athletic goals. In the past we have relied upon more traditional fundraising efforts, but this year we decided to give GoFundMe a shot. Please take a moment to donate and help give us a shot, too. Any funds you are willing to donate will be tax deductible and will help us to represent East Burke to our fullest potential.
