Ear Surgery for Vern
Vern was abandoned and left to fend for himself on the streets for four years - the vet estimates his age between 4 and 5. When I was finally able to trap him after a long four months of building his trust, he had a recurring abscess on his face, was severely dehydrated, and underweight. Despite all of this, Vern is a heckin’ good cat and loves to cuddle and play.
After treating the abscess, Vern caught himself an ear infection, which was treated with antibiotics. Then the ear infection came back, so we tried another round of different antibiotics. Just recently, we did a third round of antibiotics to no avail.
Today, we went back to the vet, and after another good flush of Vern’s ear, the vet advised he could see a growth happening near the ear drum, which also may be affecting his throat (it likely is because Vern swallows differently than my other cats). The vet advised that he wants to remove as much of the growth as possible and determine if it’s cancerous.
This is devastating news because Vern is so loving and we love him in return. I made him a promise to always be there for him and I’m not going to break that promise.
The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, January 21, 2019.
We are asking for any any help towards his surgery and any future treatments Vern may need - thank you so much for reading.
