My Name is Shawn M. Reynolds, Jr. (Puyallup/Blackfeet/Tsalagi) I'm Native American and Caucasian. I live on the Nisqually Indian Reservation in Washington State. As a Native American activist I have won a National Award for my international efforts with this project. I have won many other awards over the years for all of my work in the community. Eagle Touch the Clouds is a self-funded project and this page is set up to help with my efforts to allow other people to help fund my vision.
Eagle Touch the Clouds started in December of 2011 when I went to a library to return my oldest daughter's library books. I noticed that the library had sections based on cultures from around the world. I didn’t see any section on Native American culture. I asked if they had any Native American items in the library. I was told they only had a couple books and one or two movies. The items they showed me had no section and were basic school text books with no real history in them.
I saw a need to change this issue for this library not having a Native American cultural section. I talked to the staff at the library and went home and had a vision come to me on what I should do. I then asked the libraries management if I could fix this issue with my own funds and resources. The library management told me they liked the idea that I gave them and told me to move forward with my plans.
Eagle Touch the Clouds started in 2011 with just 1 library and a vision. Eagle Touch the Clouds has gained partnerships with 19 different libraries. Each Library has items that are public items that anyone can buy online. It also has items that are gifted by tribal councils that are only available to tribal members. Eagle Touch the Clouds has helped more than 1,000,000 plus people that use the library systems since I created this project
This project is self-funded buy my own personal funds. I have made this page to help raise awareness about my project and to allow for anyone that wants to leave a donation. All donors will be honored on my website for the project as a way to say thank you for your help. I am working to do this to each and every public library system in the world. Each donation given will help with expenses with running the website, traveling to the library systems, buying materials, and many other things that it takes to make this project possible.
This project helps supply educational resources to the general public for things such as school projects, general interest, cultural teachings, and much more. This project has been talked about and featured in newspapers, radio shows, websites, and many other media outlets.
