Eagle Scout Project - Light up Benches at Hospital

Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Benjamin Raygor and I am a Boy Scout in Somerset, PA with Troop 131. If you don't know much about Scouting, "Eagle Scout" is the highest rank that can be obtained by a Boy Scout. In fact, only about 2-6% of all Boy Scouts ever earn this rank. It takes a lot of work, and part of this is a self-selected service project to better the community. To do this, I need your help!

I did some serious thinking over the course of many months as to what to do for my project. I remembered many times I had spent at our local hospital, UPMC Somerset (formerly Somerset Hospital). As a patient or family member, the staff was always helpful, friendly, and comforting. As a high school student, I spent many hours job shadowing at the hospital, and the employees were always extremely welcoming and wanted to give me great experiences.

I knew immediately that doing a project with the hospital would be the perfect fit for my Eagle Scout project. I am passionate about helping our community hospital as a way to give back for all they have done for me. Living in a small, tightly-knit community, it's hard to find someone who has not been positively impacted by UPMC Somerset and its staff

I set up a meeting with the engineering department, and the rest is history! We decided that an awesome project would be to install lighting near the benches on East Church Street so they can be used by anyone at any hour.

This is a great way to give back to the hospital and the community as a whole, all while helping me reach my lifelong goal of becoming an Eagle Scout!

All lights will be wired with in-ground electrical work. These fixtures will be LED, low wattage lights to limit power consumption and extend the life of the fixtures.

DETAILS:
---ANY AMOUNT IS APPRECIATED. For our larger donors, however, a donation of $100 or more warrants an engraved brick with your company or business name to be placed in the ground near the benches. (Please make sure your donation is not "anonymous" if you do this; otherwise, I will not be able to create a brick for you.)
---Even donations of $5 add up quickly and are appreciated beyond words.
---Donations through GoFundMe are not tax deductible. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, you can do this by sending a check to the Somerset Community Hospital Foundation at 225 South Center Avenue, Somerset, PA 15501.
---Overall, I need about $2,500-$3,000, so I am launching my online campaign with a goal of $1,500

Thanks for considering donating! I appreciate all of your help. Please feel free to message me with any questions.

It will take a community-wide effort to pull this off, but I'm confident that, with your generosity, we can give back to some of the most important members of our community and the people they serve.
