This is Baltazar Lucas, 31 years old, who was diagnosed with liver cancer.
He works as a Senior Computer Programmer. He is a loving husband and father. He has a young son (6) and newborn girl. He is the oldest of 4 siblings, all males. Unfortunately, he is the only son left in the family.
His youngest brother, Mark, died first. Back then his brother was diagnosed with Tuberculosis, but during medication, his condition worsened and they learned that he also had Hepatitis B. Mark died of liver failure in 2008. The doctor advised the family to take tests for Hepa B and that’s when they learned that all brothers have Hepa B like their mother.
From then on, they lived a healthy life style.
In April 2013, Aristotle, the 3rd oldest brother felt pain in the stomach. He also experienced fatigue. It was a very hot summer, so he thought it was because of the weather. He was diagnosed with late stage liver cancer, and died in September 2013.
During the wake, the 2nd to the youngest, Joseph, said to the family that he was feeling some pain in his right stomach. So they had him checked after the funeral. It was discovered that he already had stage 3 liver cancer and it had also spread to his lungs. He died after 2 months of battle. The family was very saddened and shocked because of the turn of events.
Baltazar also had himself tested during the wake of his brother and was also diagnosed with stage 3 liver cancer. In December 2013, he had surgery to remove a 10-cm tumor. After the surgery, the surgeon said that Baltazar’s liver was no longer healthy because of scarring all over (cirrhosis), so a liver transplant was recommended.
After recuperating for more than a month, Baltazar went back to work. However, during his routine checkup at the hospital, they found that the tumor recurred.
He next underwent a TACE procedure (Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization) in May 2014.
Doctors are now advising him to have a liver transplant soon because of his liver’s cirrhotic condition. It is very likely that the tumor will keep growing and his life is at risk because the tumor might spread to other parts of his body. If that happens, a transplant is no longer possible.
Please help my husband, Baltazar Lucas, to prolong his life. He is the only son left of his parents. We just started our own family. I wish to grow old with my husband. Our son and daughter need their father.
