Hi, my name is Christian Garcia, I'm 18 years old and I am a Venezuelan student studying abroad. I recently finished my International Baccalaureate and graduated from United World College Robert Bosch in Germany thanks to a full scholarship that was awarded to me two years ago, which without I would not have been able to attend given the critical economic situation of my family back home. This opportunity opened my eyes to bigger issues and showed that the world is not about countries, but about tears, smiles, and common problems that we all share and have to face together.
These two years opened a number of doors for which I am extremely grateful for. Last year, it gave me the opportunity to attend an educational summer camp with another scholarship. There, I learned about leadership and I realized that I want to finish my studies abroad so that I can get the necessary skills to help to reconstruct my country in the future.
So why do I need your help now?
Thanks to this experience I got accepted in several colleges, but I decided to go to The College of Idaho for the class of 2022 as I received generous financial support from the college which covers the costs of tuition, room, board, food, and health insurance. I will begin my studies there in August this year. However, my scholarship does not cover other expenses including textbooks, school supplies and personal expenses (which includes bedding, towels, toiletries, winter clothing, among others items).
I am currently staying in Germany over the summer with a family member as I am unable to return home due to the economic and political crisis in Venezuela - the worst in its history. My study visa does not allow me to work over the summer in Germany, which was the first possibility I tried in order to earn the remainder of the money I need for my studies. Due to luggage restrictions, I am only able to bring my dreams and very few possessions with me to the United States.
When I begin my studies in Idaho, I will have the opportunity to work allowing me to cover most long-term expenses, but currently, I am unable to pay for the short term expenses I mentioned previously. For these reasons, I am seeking financial support and would be extremely grateful for any donations you are willing and able to make. I believe the best way to help the country is investing in the education of the people that will help to reconstruct it in the future.

Recientemente terminé mi Bachillerato Internacional y me gradué del United World College Robert Bosch en Alemania gracias a una beca completa que me otorgaron hace dos años, sin la cual no habría podido asistir dada la crítica situación económica de mi familia en Venezuela. Esta oportunidad me abrió los ojos a problemas más grandes y demostró que el mundo no se trata de países, sino de lágrimas, sonrisas y problemas comunes que todos compartimos y tenemos que enfrentar juntos.
Estos dos años abrieron una serie de puertas por las que estoy muy agradecido. El año pasado, me dio la oportunidad de asistir a un campamento de verano educativo con otra beca. Allí, aprendí sobre liderazgo y me di cuenta de que quería terminar mis estudios en el extranjero para poder obtener las habilidades necesarias para ayudar a reconstruir mi país en el futuro.
Entonces, ¿por qué necesito tu ayuda ahora?
Gracias a esta experiencia, fui aceptado en varias universidades, pero decidí ir al College of Idaho para la clase de 2022, ya que recibí un generoso apoyo financiero de la universidad que cubre los costos de matrícula, alojamiento, alimentación, comida y salud. seguro.
