A Family In Need

Tuesday, July 24th was supposed to be an ordinary day where Daryl got up and went to work. However, that was not the case. When he was trying to get ready for work, he kept having to drag his right leg and his he couldn’t move his right hand. Charlotte rushed him to the hospital to find out that he had a severe herniated disc in his neck. For the next 10 days, he was bed bound and only able to sit up for a few minutes at a time. He had become paralyzed on the right side of his body. Thursday, August 2nd he went and seen a neurosurgeon who said he needed surgery immediately. He went in about 6pm on August 6th for surgery that was only supposed to last about an hour. Almost 4 hours later, the neurosurgeon came out and told Charlotte that he had never seen an injury as severe as Daryl’s but he felt the surgery had went well. What he didn’t know was after he was done with his part and they were trying to wake Daryl up and remove the respirator that he took a turn for the worse. His neck was so swollen that after they removed the respirator, it took them 3 more attempts to get it back in. The pulmonologist had to sit and hold Daryl’s jaw open for 2 hours. Unfortunately, they aren’t sure how long Daryl went without oxygen. As of right now, they are expecting him to be on a respirator for about a week. He isn’t following any commands and is being combative. Charlotte and Daryl are both the first to help anyone in need. Now they need us. Daryl hasn’t been able to work since this happened, so they have had no income. Any amount would be a tremendous help. If you aren’t able to donate monitarily, please pray for all of them. You can imagine how hard this is on Ben, having to see his Daddy like this and how hard it is on Charlotte with having no one by her side while all of this is going on.
