Dylan Adrain 's All Star Dream
It's been a while and I hope that this email finds you and your families well. Please forward this (and copy me) to your brothers/sisters who are not on the list.
You have perhaps seen the GoFundMe for Kim and her son Dylan Adrain through your Facebook connections, but I'm a Facebook resistor so I'm sending this around the old fashion way.
With Christmas approaching and the spirit of giving all around us, I thought what better way to give than to support a family member. With so many of us Streng cousins, a small donation of $10 from each of us can make a big difference to Kim and her son. So I am extending a challenge to each of you to make a $10 donation. I will match 50 cents on the dollar for all donations made by Streng cousins up until midnight on December 17th, up to a maximum of $150 match. We all know how few and far between opportunities like this are in our lives and together we can help make this a reality for Dylan and help Kim be there with her son as he travels across the continent.
I would also love to hear your family news so drop me a line...
Yesterday, our cousin Andrea challenged our Streng cousins to support the campaign, thank you Andrea that was very thoughtful. As I wrote in the story when I started this campaign, It takes a Village. Well, we have an AWESOME Village.
Although time passes and many of us don't see each other or keep in touch, know that you are all in our hearts and on our minds everyday.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Thank you all for your support. Kim and Dylan are so looking forward to their trip to Vegas and the opportunities that are awaiting them during the All Star tournament, meeting scouts and with schools to help further Dylan's hockey dreams.
As Dylan's aunt, I started this campaign to help them out and do what I could to encourage both Dylan and Spencer to work hard and follow their dreams.
I have withdrawn some of the funds that have been raised and delivered it to Kim to help offset some of the costs that they have incurred. Dylan's ticket has been booked, now we have to work on Kim's!
Thanks again to all of you, please keep sharing and we'll keep you posted.
I am a proud aunt of 6 awesome and talented nieces and nephews.
My oldest nephew, Dylan, is playing Junior A hockey this year, a major accomplishment for a 16 year old. Dylan has been honoured by being selected to join his league's (CPJHL) All Star Team and will travel to Las Vegas in December to play in the All Star Tournament hosted by the WSHL competing against 28 other All Star Teams from Tier II Leagues across North America.
Dylan's mom, my sister Kim, is a single Mom to 2 awesome boys who have been playing high level hockey for several years, so you can imagine the sacrifices she has made to give them these opportunities.
A trip to Las Vegas is expensive and we would love to be able to send Dylan and his Mom together to share this experience. While we (our family) will all help as much as we can, as they say, it takes a village.
Please join us in supporting Dylan's hockey dream and what will most definitely be (hopefully) the first of many life changing experiences for him.
