Donnie Wayne Smith album (preorder)
Everyone has a dream, and what I am offering to you is to be a part of mine. What I would like to do is allow friends, fans and family the chance to pre-order my album. It will have anywhere from 8 to 15 songs, depending on my muse, and there will be no predetermined genre or style-- whatever flows out, which could be country, heavy-metal, hard-core gansta polka... one never knows (right now it's all coming out seriously headbangin'). Check out "She's so Evil" on I-tunes.
As of now, world-famous drummer Scotty T. (Trammel) has agreed to work on the album, which I'm super excited about. He just finished the first couple of drum tracks for me and they are AMAZING! He also mixed "She's so Evil" for me. Other expenses and musicians will pop up down the road, including copyrighting the album and printing, duplicating and packaging CDs.
Donations are welcome, but in order to be a part of my dream, I’d really love for you to purchase the finished product. I want it to be special to you because you helped make it happen. There are different purchase levels for different donation amounts, whichever is of interest to you.
Thank you in advance for your time, consideration and help. You've all been so kind and supportive over the years watchgin me grow as a musician. I know this project is going to be a labor-of-love. Most importantly it will be my gift back to you. I look forward to sharing my music with all of you. Everyone will receive updates through e-mails and videos, and don’t be surprised if I occasionally put some snippets up for your listening pleasure.

We're tracking drums on 6 tunes right now. Ricky Almond and Zack Horvath are doing an AMAZING job. (Scotty T did two tracks for me late last year). As soon as we get these nailed down, I'm going to start tracking bass parts. Then it's on to vocals and last, and most importantly in my opinion, the SOLOS!!!
Sorry for all the caps, I'm excited.
Now for the money and gofuneme update: In two years, I've sold $2645 worth of preorders. That in and of itself is AMAZING! But, I still have a ways to go to meet the $8500. If you've already preordered Victim For Hire, I need you to share this gofundme and tell your friends how much you like it. I'm not asking for a handout... I want to you to buy an album, in advance. I want you to be a part of the process and make a dream a reality. I had considered doing some videos to show you guys what's going on, but its such a distraction to set-up cameras and learn video editing etc. And I don't want to spend the money to hire a crew, I'd rather keep it in the album. I may still do this... but it probably look like I shot it all with an iPhone.
Anyway, I know it's been long, slow, arduous process... trust me noone knows this better than me. But, we're in the short rows now. If you don't know what that means, you probably aren't from the south.
Thanks again for all of your kindness and support, I couldn't do this without you. If you like what you've heard so far, share this with your friends and encourage them to be a part. Releasing an album without the help of a label is a task buddy, let me tell you. I couldn't do it without you.
I gotta tell you, it's been a long road so far. I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to make progress. I found it harder to "make myself be creative" than I thought it would. But...
These past two weeks has been AUH-mazing. I've written all the songs (guitar and arrangements), technically I'm finishing the last one today and tomorrow. I've scattered the songs all over the U.S. and enlisted the help of some incredibly talented musicians. Drummers and bassists from all over are cutting tracks RIGHT now. It's very cool to collaborate via the internet to accomplish tasks.
You guys have been a support system like no other. You've encouraged me, you've listened to me bitch about the process, and you've inspired me.
The goal right now is to have all instrument beds tracked by Sept. 10. Then I'm going to record all the solos and fills. Once those are in I'm going to concentrate specifically on vocals. So by Oct. 7th I plan on everything being ready to send off for mixing and mastering.
Mixing, Mastering, Duplication and Distribution are the expensive parts. That's where I need your help.
Help me make this last push! I can't wait for you to hear the new stuff. Don't forget that "She's so Evil" is available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc.
Heading back out on the road with Winger in Oct., so I'll see you guys out there!
Looks like I'll have 5 songs recorded, mixed and ready for mastering here in the next two weeks. I'm trying to decide how many to put on the album. I'd like to have it finished before I go back out on tour in Feb. I'm thinking 8 or more, but at least 8 right? Thoughts?
I'm hoping to "release" my first single here in a week or so.
If you haven't already, please click on the link and pre-order your copy of "Victim for Hire", that's the tentative title. There are cool gifts based on how much you pay for the album.
Thank you so much to everyone that's preordered already. It means so much to me!
