Since April the 20th 2010, there have been amazing stories of strength, heroism, courage and putting one’s self before the other in just about every publication you can think of. 60 minutes, New York Times, every major newspaper in the southern United States, multiple books and some additional documentaries based on the environmental damage that occurred, oh and a Hollywood movie that will soon be released the end of August 2016.
The one problem with all of this media is, there are crewmates that have not told their story, there are people still lying awake at night and when they do sleep they are still waking up from terrible nightmares. Some of them will never see their son, father, brother, uncle, cousin or loved ones ever again. Children growing up without fathers and wives without husbands… I was a ship mate to this team from 2001 to 2008. 4 of the 11 that perished worked for me as a Driller in 2007 and 2008, the others where my close friends and family.
There are two parts to the project:
· The non-fiction story from their point of view
· The documentary detailing this event as I will be traveling the US as much as possible to see each one of them and their families.
I will be supported by a creative writer with a technical background and a staff of talented management behind us.
This will be a long process but we are committed to making sure that everyone that has a voice gets a chance to speak and tell their story, this is not an interview where we will be looking for the best content, we want to give the people that have not had a chance to tell their story an outlet to express how they feel, what was amazing, terrifying and most of all some much needed closure on a part of history that they played a huge role in. This is not a story of greed, corporate corruption, or damage to the environment, this is a story about 126 heroes, their successes, their life and many, many others.
Mission Goal
To give the world the true story of the comradery, friendship and fearless operational execution of a team and a vessel that was best in class for many years.
This will be a long process but we are committed to making sure that everyone that has a voice gets a chance to speak and tell their story, this is not an interview where we will be looking for the best content, we want to give the people that have not had a chance to tell their story an outlet to express how they feel, what was amazing, terrifying and most of all some much needed closure on a part of history that they played a huge role in.
Background
The Deepwater Horizon management and the team that operated it was also a large part of multiple major discoveries that will assist the United States on becoming energy efficient for the first time in history by the year 2020. They set world records that still stand today.
Funding
Once the planning process and project outline is completed we will be sourcing the funding. This will be in the form of a Go Fund Me account setup to directly contribute to the project. The money donated will be used for travel expense, the creative team to assist with assembling the story and the documentary as well as getting the general public involved to understand the deeper human side of this wonderful team and their families.
