UPDATE:

We are so head over heels in love with our baby boy and are beyond thankful for everyone who has helped us along the way. Whether through donations, words of encouragement, or new clothes and goodies for our boy, we will never have enough words to show our gratitude. For anyone who doesn't know, Emmet Anthony arrived on August 19th at 12:37pm. We have been blessed by 2 wonderful people and will forever be grateful. Thank you all for your love and support!

Dear Family & Family,

For all of you who have ever said we would make great parents, here is your chance to help!

A little background on our journey!

Ed and Erika met in 2005 when Erika first interviewed at a company Ed was working for in New Jersey. Coincidentally, Ed was the interviewer! Erika didn't originally take the job (and she claims it had nothing to do with the interviewers). It wasn't until a year later that their paths crossed again when she when she finally end up at the same company. They worked in different departments, and every now and again Ed caught her eye. It wasn't until Ed was changing positions that would send him across the country to Scottsdale, AZ that the 2 of them decided to start dating. It was March of 2007, and they had just a few months to get to know each other before they started their long distance relationship. After a year of phone calls, plane rides, and missing each other terribly Erika decided to take a chance on love and move to Scottsdale to be with the man of her dreams.

In December of 2009 their love story grew, they got engaged! It was the greatest Christmas season of all time! Immediately the planning started. The date was set. May 29th, 2011 would be the best day of their lives.

Growing our family:

During our engagement we knew right away that we wanted to start a family. After the wedding we wasted no time! It isn't until you try that you know how hard it actually is to start a family. We became frustrated, nervous, scared, and quite emotional. We sought out the help of a doctor. After several failed attempts at a procedure called an IUI we took a few months off as we moved into our forever home. Now was the chance to build our home and really dig deeper into what was going on and make this family grow, grow, grow! We went to a specialist only to find out that our next option was IVF, a procedure that is physically, emotionally and financially draining. We decided to go for it! We were just plowing through every obstacle thrown our way! Nothing could stop us! Well, that's what we thought until our dream was crushed with another failed attempt. All that time and effort, all those medications, and did I already mention the cost? Oh the cost... Just went right down the drain. To say we were devastated is an understatement.

The change:

We took some more time off, enjoyed each other. Went on vacation and just tried to have fun. We even made some major life changes with our health! We started eating clean, working out, tried acupuncture, chiropractic care and massage therapy! The works. Once we made that change we decided it was time to try again, but of course there was that dreaded cost. We applied for a grant which would cover some, but not all, of the costs. We were accepted and we had a chance drop into our laps! We went through the whole process again, only healthier and less stressed. On paper our odds looked amazing, and yet again our hopes were shattered.

Our new adventure:

ADOPTION!

Through all of this the one thing that has always been there is the fact that we have love in our hearts and we want to share it.  We want to have our family. Together, after many talks, and heart to hearts we decided it was time to make this decision. We want to adopt! We are thrilled and so excited to begin this process. We know that we want to be parents. Having a child, being a mother, being a father is our dream. We have so much love to share and what better way to share our love then to give a baby, someday our baby, all the love he or she deserves. We can't wait to share this joyous time with everyone we know and love.

Our hope and your chance:

As you may have already guessed the cost of adoption is going to be the next obstacle we plan to overcome. We have a plan, but every little bit of help will go a long way.

Our hope is that you read our story, share it , grow with us, and give what you can. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts :)

Much love,
