Dutch's Emergency Medical Care

The Holiday would not be complete without a major emergency!!

Please Welcome Dutch to Pacific NW Bulldog Rescue.

Late Tuesday night (11/22/16) we got a call about a very sick 2 yr old boy that needed emergency help and he was rushed to the closest hospital. We were advised he had been treated for bladder stones recently and that Dutch was in extreme pain--vomiting and lethargic.

X-rays and examination by the vets showed his bladder and urethra riddled with stones--so bad that he couldn't even urinate. He needed his bladder drained asap and the vet needed to try and flush the stones in his urethra back into his bladder to gain access. They were able to get a catheter in and drain 1.5 liters of urine and stabilize him for the night.

On Wednesday morning (11/23/16) he was transferred from emergency care to our vet for surgery.  With limited staff and shorter hours due to the holiday they had to call in one of the surgeons to do the surgery.

Dutch went into surgery at 10 am and at 1 pm we got a call that there was a big stone that had adhered to his urethra wall that may make it necessary for them to re-route his urinary tract and make a new opening for him to urinate through. Luckily, the surgeon persisted and was able to remove the adhered stone.

Dutch was under anesthesia for 4 hours just to remove his bladder stones!! Due to the length under anesthesia, he needed continued monitoring and pain management and had to go back to the emergency clinic Wednesday.

In the middle of the night, Dutch started bleeding out through his incision and needed another emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.  He will be transported Friday morning back to our vet for continued monitoring.

His emergency bills and surgeries added up very quicky and were completely unexpected. We need your help to cover his eessential medical care so we can get this beautiful boy receovered and adopted!

With your support, Dutch is expected to make a full recovery and be a healthy, happy, adoptable boy!

We're fortunate that not every bully we rescue needs this level of care, but many do. Even with a 10% discount generously provided by our veterinarians, the costs for Dutch will break down as follows and do not include his food and other essentials!

Emergency care: $3250
Surgery and meds: $2250
Follow-up care: $1,200

Please help Dutch and donate today! We are so grateful for your support!
