Dunedin Cares' Story

America is truly a land of abundance, yet hunger is creeping into our communities. It seems like total lunacy that our neighbors, in our backyards, could actually be hungry. We have a problem, a growing problem and it is called “FOOD INSECURITY.”

Who Does It Affect?
Everyday people just like you and me. People who are unfortunate victims of life’s circumstance.  A divorce, a mental illness, a layoff at an age where no one seems to want to gainfully employ you.  A senior citizen on a fixed income who must choose between purchasing medicines, paying past due medical bills or todays meal. 

Let us not kid ourselves; this is a real problem, right here in Middle America, right in our community, right in our own back yard.

Our Goal
Dunedin Cares goal is to alieve some of the pain and worry our citizens in need are experiencing, often on a temporary basis. We help them through a rough patch if you will. We have a goal of empathy, a goal of aid, and a goal to nurture, a goal to help lift up.

New Home For Dunedin Cares
Dunedin Cares has outgrown our current donated space that houses our Food Pantry.  Two local churches have been most generous in reaching out to us. One has been providing us space and is now going to provide the property where a donated a Modular building will be located. The generous donation of the building from the other church is just incredible.  Moving the donated modular was very expensive and does need some renovation and must comply with Public Safety codes.  This takes money.  Combine the need for renovations with our need for non-perishable canned and paper goods and you get a better understanding of why we seek funding.

The path our recipients find themselves on is not their path of choice. Dunedin Cares, a totally volunteer based organization believes your funding helps the recipients have a little less worry so they can move in the positive direction they seek.
