THE DUKES OF UKE ARE GOING TO DI GLOBALS!

After winning  the regional competition of Destination Imagination (DI), The Dukes of Uke, placed 1st at the State Competition, which earned them the opportunity to compete against teams from around the world at Global Finals in Tennessee in May.

Since September, this team has worked hard to create a 2-act musical which incorporates a technical component.  They wrote songs, sewed the costumes, built the set and props, made puppets, dragons and bears (oh my!).

DI teams pick a challenge in the fields of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and spend months working on the solution. This entirely student led endeavor develops creativity, flexibility, collaborative problem-solving, and persistence.

The cost to go to the Global Finals is $7500.
WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER!

This is what our team has to say about DI and Globals:

DI is very rigorous and it helps us learn about the creative process and how to solve complex problems. It's an environment where we are free to be ourselves, can explore our creativity, and have fun. Getting recognized for our team's achievement inspires us to work harder and to be  better people. Globals is important to my team because it is more of a learning experience than a competition.  I plan to do a bake/lemonade sale along with dog walking and babysitting.
-Sydney

DI is time to spend with my friends and get my creative juices flowing. Lemonade stands and yard sales are what I plan to do to raise money for Globals!
-Ryan

I love that DI is a fun and creative way to express myself and work with a team. I have been doing DI for five years now and like being challenged to build or design. I am interested in partnering with Comedy Sportz, and doing a bake sale to raise money for our team.
- Amelia

What I love about DI is that it helps me use my creativity and I get to make cool things! DI gives me an opportunity to look at things with a different perspective. Going to Globals is important because we have worked so hard  and I want to go as far as we possibly can. I want to do lots of lemonade stands to raise money.
- Hyrum

DI allows us to design, build, and create anything that we want which is really important to me. Going to Globals is important because we worked so hard to get this far-weekends, in the morning and in the evening. We are trying to fundraise by having bake sales, doing yardwork, and odd jobs.
-Marlise

I love a lot of things about DI- skill building, writing  a story and making the characters come to life through acting! It is a good experience for kids to be independent and creative.  Globals is a great learning experience! It is a once in a lifetime experience for our team and I have been excited beyond belief since states.
