From Fox 4 News - "KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A KCK mother of four is scared for her kids' health and safety, after a utility company shut off her family's power Tuesday morning. Around 11 a.m., Jessika Dukes and her four young children were left in the dark."
I was not able to sit back and watch a family of 6, with a working father and stay-at-home mother sit in the cold and dark without trying to help.
I have personally had a shut-off notice served to my house before and know it is scary. It's scary when there's very little you can do, when you are already doing as much as you can.
I am no one special to this family, other than a fellow concerned Kansas Citian with an little bit larger forum than most. I started and run the StolenKC Facebook Group.
StolenKC is a group that helps people recover their stolen items through the assistance of the peer network. It's from watching this group work, that makes me believe the people of KC will be happy to come together before we see the extreme cold temperatures and get the service turned back on.
The story says they owe $760, and I have set the goal to $1,500 because if they are already behind, I think it would be helpful to maybe help them up just a bit with a little extra.
Thank-you for your time, and if possible, your contribution.
