Moose has had a rough go of it in his short life. Taken from his mom too soon and dumped in a high kill shelter with his litter-mates. Moose was the smallest at only 4 pounds 6 ounces. After several rounds of tre
atment for multiple parasites we thought we had smooth sailing ahead. Sadly it was not to be....
When Moose started limping another trip to the vet and xrays revealed that Moose has severe hip dysplasia.
We are heartbroken. At only 11 months old he is in nearly constant pain and already has difficulty getting up and walking. Surgery is the only option for Moose. On the advice of the specialist we are opting for FHO surgery. (A femoral head ostectomy)
While both hips will eventually have to be surgically repaired we are concentrating our efforts on the left hip which is the most painful for him. The money we are raising will go for the surgery, physical therapy and braces for his legs. If we surpass our goal any additional funds will be held for the surgery on the right hip.
