Energetic, free-spirited, and full of potential are just a few attributes you would use to describe Elizabeth Renae Prewitt. Finding ways to make people smile and capturing an audience from the moment she steps into the room are how people remember this confident young lady. Elizabeth strives for perfection in athletics, art, and education. She is a track-star, an elite gymnast, and a three-time All European cheerleader. She was one of five high school students to have her art displayed at the Nelson Atkins Art museum and she wanted so much to further her education to become a children’s art therapist. On December 20, 2017 all her hopes, dreams, and aspirations were shattered when she was found lifeless in her apartment having been strangled. Paramedics were able to revive her, but she had already suffered massive injuries including a heart attack and anoxic brain injury from lack of oxygen. Because Ellie had only recently moved back to Missouri to finish High school among her friends and peers, the family was tasked with finding a way to get her back to Perry, Utah where her father, MSgt. John Bartlow, is currently stationed at Hill Air Force Base. After months in the hospital and a long-term care facility, it was imperative that Ellie come home where she could begin the recovery process with the love and support of her family by her side. In an effort to do this, many modifications had to be made to the family home and on May 11, 2018 the transition was made possible. Ellie continues to make progress at a slow and steady pace but remains in a minimally conscious state. Unfortunately, the family resources have been depleted leaving necessary modifications unfinished and other needs put on hold. Because of this we are reaching out to our fellow community for support. Please visit ItIsAboutHer.com to learn how you can help and get updates about Ellie and her recovery.
This is a video John put together. Ellie is our cheerleader. Now, it is our turn to cheer her on.
Awesome update to post we were able to work with Angle Met Flight and get the cost down to about $8,000 out of our pocket. Of course they need all the money up front before they could book the flight but Jennifer’s Parents were able to dig up the payment and book the flight. I am excited to say as of 10pm tonight(Friday) our daughter has made it the SLC long-term hospital!!!! Now Mom can get some needed rest in her own bed once Ellie is settled in. Of course, I am sure it will be some time till she get a good nights rest but HUGE THANKS to all supporters that helped get her home!! We will still need to get some of the money back to her parents. Another big THANK YOU to GARY and the fMMOly community for getting the word out!!! Ellie is still in a coma so please counting to keep her in your prayers and thoughts
