Hello. My name is Blanca Reyes (Telis) and Saul is my younger brother. I am starting this campaign to help him with recovering from a tragic accident. Please help if you can. Thank you.
On 12/30/18, 42 year-old Saul Castillo from Villa Juarez, San Luis Potosi, Mexico was driving home from a nearby city called Cerritos with his cousin. It was dark and he was rounding a corner on the highway when he was suddenly hit head-on by a speeding pickup truck driving in the wrong lane. The pickup truck was driven by an unlicensed and inexperienced driver with an intoxicated passenger inside the cab. Saul was rescued from the crushed Nissan sedan by good samaritans who waited with him until the ambulance arrived. He suffered severe injuires consisting of a broken hip, shattered femur and a shattered right arm and shoulder. He had also lost a lot of blood. He was stabilized at a local hospital then transported to a trauma center in San Luis Potosi, where he underwent seven (7) hours of surgery to save his life. Thank you to those who donated the rarest blood type, O negative, which saved his life by allowing surgery to be begin.
Saul's lifesaving treatment has resulted in huge hospital bills and he requires long-term therapy to recuperate. The family is doing what they can financially to assist him but the total costs, including the necessary medication, continued treatment and therapy far exceed what the family can do financially.
Saul was born in SLP, Mexico grew up in Norwalk, California, then moved to Houston , Texas to work. He was visiting his family when the accident occured.
The medical costs for the first three months are estimated to exceed $26,000, not including medication, follow-up visits and a years worth of physical therapy. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to cover these costs and to get him on his feet and functioning at a level where he can eventually gain the strength and mobility to continue on with his life. Estaba oscuro y estaba doblando una esquina en la carretera cuando de repente fue golpeado de frente por una camioneta que conducía en el carril equivocado. La camioneta fue conducida por un conductor sin licencia e inexperto con un pasajero intoxicado dentro de la cabina. Saul fue rescatado del sedán Nissan por buenos samaritanos que esperaron con él hasta que llegó la ambulancia. Sufrió graves heridas que consistían en una cadera rota, fémur destrozado y un brazo y un hombro derecho destrozados. También había perdido mucha sangre.
