Drown Out Trans/Homophobia
Donation protected
Each year our regional Pride festivals attract homophobic and transphobic street preachers. They stand in groups near the entrance with a loud megaphone and tell families and children they are going to burn in hell for being themselves.
I've seen far too many children start to cry, or parents get angry and start yelling. It is the goal of these evil men to incite a physical altercation.
This year, I decided to do something about it. With a cheap 50 watt megaphone I stood shoulder to shoulder with these evil men and streamed gay anthems and popular music in an attempt to drown out their message of hate.
However, there were two problems: (1) the sound quality of music from a megaphone is really, really bad and (2) 50 watts of power isn't enough to suppress their message.
Next year, I'd like to come to come equipped with an 800 watt Bump Boxx Uprock V1 portable sound system. It will be more than enough power to suppress their message of hate and pain while at the same time turning the immediate area into a fun dance party.
It would also be my desire to loan the device out to other regional festivals to do the same throughout the year.
