Drones Don't Dream: A Children Story

The story involves robots, aliens and dreams
& a child desperate to figure out what it all means.
This child is me and you and everyone we know
& how we manage our dreams in a nation of drones.

The youth of today are unlike any generation before
With more access than ever, no one is sure what's in store
The thoughts of children are our base for the future
Their minds are not to be programmed like computers

Children are unabashed in their wisdom and wonder
Unconcerned with tyrannical powers we live under
Fresh from their past lives, sent to us from the stars
Their associative intelligence is far superior to ours

Not only is literacy in early years of utmost importance
Narratives are preserved while their minds are most absorbent
In these days of gossip, distraction and disaster
Children need art and inspiration to take after

Think, the Matrix meets Avatar meets Alice in Wonderland
A curious little boy reconciling intergalactic motherland
To think of it as just a story for kids may be a little unfair
Meta-fiction and myth means that it's the truth somewhere

Some of the references may be considered obscure
Like most epic tales, there are hints that are more mature
As you continue to scroll through the pages
